The California Association for MUSIC EDUCATION

Mission Statement:
The mission of the California Coalition for Music Education is to promote
the benefits of a high quality, substantive, and sequential music education
for every child in California public schools, taught by a qualified music
teacher.

Purpose:
The purpose of the coalition is to advocate for the educational needs of
California's public school students by: (1) supporting legislation that
advances the place of music in the state education code; (2) disseminating
research that substantiates the value of music instruction; (3) informing state
and local educational decision makers of the values and benefits of an
education in music; and (4) assisting community members and parents in the
development of local advocacy groups in both proactive and reactive
circumstances.

The coalition has information available to assist educators, parents,
administrators and schools with music education advocacy. If you would
like information about starting a local coalition in your community, please
