Violin Teacher Needed Immediately!
The Gabriella Foundation, www.gabri.org, is currently seeking a part-time violin teacher for Allegrol an after-school music program for 2nd-5th grade students in Echo Park. We are looking for a teacher with comfort and experience teaching young beginners, ideally in an after-school environment. The program runs on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:45-5:45. Hours would be 3:30-6:00pm with intermittent staff meetings. The program is currently in progress and will continue through May 2012 so we are requesting a commitment for the duration of the program.

Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton (SHS) is seeking experienced candidates for a Band Director position for grades four through eight.
Organization Overview
Founded in 1898, SHS is a Roman Catholic, coeducational, independent school and is comprised of four divisions: SHS Preschool and Kindergarten, SHS Lower and Middle Schools for grades one through eight, and Sacred Heart Preparatory for grades nine through twelve.
Located on a beautiful 64-acre campus in the San Francisco Bay Area, SHS is one of 23 schools in the U.S. Network of Sacred Heart Schools and is affiliated with a network of over 200 Sacred Heart schools worldwide. The school's mission is to educate the whole child to be a leader who loves God and serves others.
SHS employs over 250 full- and part-time women and men with a strong commitment to diversity. The annual budget of SHS is more than $30 million and the endowment is nearly $40 million, both growing rapidly in recent years and expected to continue growing as enrollment increases toward 1,200 students, and as a result of the capital campaign.
Summary of Position
The position is a mid-year replacement starting mid January 2012. Classes to be taught are General Music, fourth grade Beginning Band, fifth grade Band, sixth grade Beginning Band, sixth grade Advanced Band, and seventh and eighth grade Band and Advanced Band. There is also an opportunity to teach a Jazz Band class that meets before the school day. Additional responsibilities include teaching one period of Life Skills and supervising one period of Study Hall each week. Requirements include at least five years of experience teaching music at an elementary or middle school. Preferred qualifications include a Single Subject Credential and a Masters degree in Education, Music Instruction or similar field.

-Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs.
-Excellent attendance and punctuality.
-A clear understanding of and appreciation for the goals and criteria of a Sacred Heart education.

Southern California Fine Music Center Position Summary:
Responsible for leading either beginning string pedagogy, beginning winds/brass, or beginning choir ofr students starting as young as three years old through elementary ages. The Teaching Artist will ensure the highest quality music experience for the participants and work with fellow teaching artists to develop the curriculum that follows SCFMC’s mission.
Duties:
As a SCFMC teaching artist, responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Collaborating with fellow SCFMC teachers to create a shared curriculum, pedagogy and culture
- Teaching beginning string, winds/brass classes of pre-k to elementary school age children
- Assisting with periodic full orchestra rehearsals of 50 children
- Attending music pedagogy professional development sessions
- Preparation and communication with other music teachers, interns, conductors, Program Director and parents
- Supporting the SCFMC philosophy and community and help facilitate community and family involvement.
